Sunday, Feb.7:
Afternoon: Arrive in San Salvador
Evening: Welcome dinner and orientation to El Salvador with Stuart Conway and Jenny Bramhall of TWP
Overnight: Casa Austria, San Salvador

Monday, Feb. 8:
Morning: Briefing on the environment, economy, and politics of El Salvador by U.S. Embassy staff
Afternoon: Visit Joya de Ceren, a fascinating archeological site preserved by volcanic ash, similar to Pompeii
Overnight: Hotel Tolteka Plaza, Santa Ana

Tuesday, Feb. 9:
Visit the town of Candelaria de la Frontera near the Guatemalan border to build fuel-efficient Justa stoves
Overnight: Hotel Tolteka Plaza, Santa Ana

Wednesday, Feb. 10:
Visit TWP’s tree nursery in El Porvenir and plant a grove of fruit trees
Overnight: Hotel Tolteka Plaza, Santa Ana

Thursday, Feb. 11:
Morning: Bird-watching and a spectacular view from a volcano summit in Los Volcanes National Park
Afternoon: Fly from San Salvador to Managua
Evening: Orientation to Nicaragua with Stuart Conway and Marlyng Buitrago
Overnight: Hotel Brandt, Managua

Friday, Feb. 12:
Morning: Briefing on Nicaraguan politics, economy, and environment by U.S. Embassy staff
Afternoon: Tour PROLEÑA’s EcoStove factory in Managua
Overnight: Hotel Brandt, Managua

Saturday, Feb. 13:
Morning: Visit La Paz Centro to tour TWP’s tree nursery, a reforestation site, and a ceramics factory
Afternoon: Tour the colonial-era cathedral of Leon for great views over this picturesque city
Overnight: Hotel Brandt, Managua

Sunday, Feb. 14:
Drive to Granada, check into the hotel, and you are free to do as you please!
Take a horse-drawn carriage tour, boat or kayak to the islands of Lake Nicaragua, relax at the hotel, etc.
Overnight: Hotel Alhambra, Granada

Monday, Feb. 15:
Morning: See geothermal vents and wildlife at the Volcan Mombacho Nature Reserve. A butterfly and orchid garden and a canopy tour are available in the adjacent coffee plantation.
Afternoon: Shop for traditional arts and crafts in the Pueblos Blancos
Overnight: Hotel Alhambra, Granada

Tuesday, Feb. 16
Morning: Fly home from Managua

Details
Note that you will need to make “open jaw” flight reservations, with your outbound flight to San Salvador and your return flight from Managua. We will arrange for your travel from San Salvador to Managua as part of the tour.

Estimated cost: $2,850/person with double occupancy rooms. Single rooms can be arranged for an additional $500. The price includes all lodging, meals, tours, and local transportation.

Not included: airfare to and from Central America, departure taxes, alcoholic beverages, gratuities, laundry, phone calls, or other personal expenses.
